Weekend at the Maison de Bonneuil (18–20 June 2010)
Some fifteen members of the GGG heeded the call and trekked to the Maison de Bonneuil on the weekend of June 18th to 20th. (As the partner of one such individual, I tagged along on what was my maiden voyage to this illustriously gay dwelling.) Despite high hopes, the sun remained a timid presence, playing hide-and-seek with the many Picardian billows (more or less menacing), and the temperature hovered dolefully around 14 degrees. These mundane meteorological variables, however, did little to dampen the conviviality that reigned. Gérard regaled us with delicious and ample repasts, while Bruno ensured that everything unfolded smoothly. The lush manicured garden, blistering with color thanks to the summer flora, offered an idyllic backdrop for those courageous souls (Didier, Alain, Bruno, Fabrice, the two Dominiques) who dared to go for a dip in the pool. The rest of us huddled around the flaming hearth—kibitzing, imbibing, reading—content to be among friends and fellow travelers. As the old adage goes : “A good time was had by all.”
